Hellmuth Schwiedessen

Hellmuth Schwiedessen (born August 31, 1903 in Hämbach ; † December 20, 1974 in Hösel ) was a German university professor and engineer for industrial furnace construction and heating technology .

Life

Hellmuth Schwiedessen began studying mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Danzig in the summer semester of 1924 . At the beginning of his studies he became a member of the Corps Baltica. In May 1929 he completed his studies as a Dipl.-Ing. from. After two years in industry, he switched to the Technical University of Hanover as a doctoral candidate in the fall of 1931 . Here he became a Dr.-Ing. PhD.

From autumn 1933 to mid-1949, Schwiedessen worked as a scientist at the VDEh steel institute . In 1946 his habilitation took place. After working abroad in India from mid-1949 to the end of 1954, he worked for Indugas in Essen until March 1957.

On April 4, 1957, he was appointed full professor to the newly established chair for industrial furnace technology at RWTH Aachen University and was appointed head of the Institute for Industrial Furnace Construction and Heat Technology in Metallurgy , which was founded in 1960 . In 1971 he retired .
