Glenn Hartranft
Glenn Hartranft ( Samuel Glenn "Tiny" Hartranft ; born December 3, 1901 in Aberdeen , South Dakota , † August 12, 1970 ) was an American shot putter and discus thrower .
At the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris, he won silver in the shot put and finished sixth in the discus throw. On May 2, 1925, in San Francisco, he increased the world record of his compatriot Thomas Lieb by 28 centimeters to 47.89 meters. In the same year he was starting NCAA champion in the shot put for Stanford University .
