Otto Hellmuth von Weber (born July 4, 1893 in Nossen ; † May 10, 1970 in Bonn ) was a German legal scholar and criminologist .

Live and act

Von Weber completed his habilitation at the University of Leipzig in 1924 , was associate professor at the German university in Prague from 1926 to 1928 , from 1928 to 1937 full professor for criminal law at the University of Jena and from 1937 (as emeritus until his death) full professor for Criminal law and criminology at the University of Bonn .

After the Reichstag fire on February 28, 1933, Hellmuth von Weber prepared an express report with Friedrich Oetker and Walter Nagler , which was presented on March 4, 1933. The experts took the position that a retroactive tightening of penalties would be possible by simple law and would probably also be accepted by the Reichsgericht . In the legal literature, on the other hand, laws that exacerbate penalties are largely rejected. Public concerns are also to be expected.
