Helmert van der Flier
Helmert Richard van der Flier (born November 26, 1827 in Baarn ; † June 5, 1899 there ) was a Dutch landscape and animal painter.
Van der Flier was a student of James de Rijk in Hilversum . Then he returned home to Baarn and worked there as a landscape and animal painter. He mostly painted grazing cows and sheep. He married Elisabeth Clara Geertruida Schrader (1828–1912) in Utrecht on October 5, 1859, with whom he had two children. Helmert van der Flier was city councilor in Baarn from 1881. He was a member of the " Arti et Amicitiae " in Amsterdam and the " Pulchri Studio " association in The Hague.
Flier participated in art exhibitions in Amsterdam , The Hague , Rotterdam and Arnhem . His works are u. a. at the Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum Rotterdam.
