Helmfried Meinel

Helmfried Meinel (born August 2, 1954 in Albersloh ) is a German political official . Since May 16, 2011 he has been Secretary of State and Deputy Ministers in by Franz saucer ( Alliance 90 / The Greens ) guided Ministry for the Environment, Climate and Energy of Baden-Wuerttemberg .

Life

From 1973 to 1980 Meinel studied electrical engineering with a focus on physical electronics at the University of Stuttgart and physics at the University of Warwick with a degree in engineering . He then worked from 1981 to 1984 as a research assistant at the Institute for Physical Electronics at the University of Stuttgart and in the same function from 1984 to 1987 in the Bundestag parliamentary group Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen in the areas of research and technology, renewable energies and climate protection.

In 1988 Meinel moved to the North Rhine-Westphalia consumer center , where he initially worked as a research assistant in the Housing and Energy Department. In 1990 he took over the management of the Housing and Energy department and, from 1997, the Special Consumer Issues division (energy, nutrition, environment, housing / care). At the same time, he became a member of the executive board and, in 2005 and 2006, he was also acting head of consumer law and financial services.

In May 2011, Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen) appointed him Ministerial Director and Head of Office in the Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection and the Energy Industry of the State of Baden-Württemberg. He is thus Minister Franz Untersteller's deputy . Meinel also held this position in the 16th legislative period of the state of Baden-Württemberg.

From 2002 to 2011 Meinel was a member of the board of the Öko-Institut , from 2005 to 2011 as spokesman for the board.

Helmfried Meinel is married and has one daughter.

Positions

Meinel is an advocate of an ambitious climate protection policy to be implemented by the European institutions with ambitious instruments such as emissions trading or the effort sharing regulation (see also load sharing decision ).
