Helmut Maria Boselmann (born October 2, 1948 in Vienna ; † March 6, 2007 in Vienna) was an Austrian photographer , actor , filmmaker , painter and photo dealer.

As a filmmaker and actor, like John Cook, he was a protagonist of Viennese bohemianism in the 1970s.

Life

Helmut Boselmann worked as a photo dealer in Vienna until the Canadian filmmaker John Cook recognized him as an actor and screenwriter.

Cook and Boselmann realized the documentary feature film Slow Summer with the film producer Michael Pilz between 1974 and 1976 , a largely privately financed low-budget film that was shot on Super 8 and copied on 35 mm . Slow Summer was shown at numerous domestic and international festivals (including the International Cannes Film Festival 1977, International Carthage Film Festival 1977) and in Austrian arthouse cinemas and is now considered a classic of Austrian cinema.

Boselmann's gift of storytelling also provided episodes and ideas for Helmut Zenker's satirical crime series Kottan Determined .

As a painter, Boselmann took part in the major artistic installation Integrationsweltkugel by the Linz artist group Agens in 2006 .

Most recently, Helmut Boselmann promoted Austrian photographers as curator and initiator of the Photographie 7x7 exhibition series . This exhibition series will be continued in his spirit.
