Helmut Gerstenberg (born August 16, 1926 in Gotha ; † April 5, 1983 ) was a German engineer and inventor .

Live and act

After graduating from high school in Meiningen, Gerstenberg studied mechanical engineering at the TH Hannover and completed his studies with the title of qualified engineer . He was assistant at the chair for internal combustion engines at the TH Hannover and from 1952 to 1954 he worked as a designer and test engineer for diesel engines at Hanomag in Hannover .

Since 1954 Gerstenberg was employed as a test engineer for solid-liquid systems at Hoechst AG , later head of the process engineering department . He invented the color dyeing of the synthetic fiber Trevira (R) and the bubble column reactor . At the annual meeting of process engineers from September 27 to 29, 1978 in Aachen, he gave a lecture on the bubble column reactor, a process engineering device that can be used for chemical and biochemical reactions between gas and liquid, which was highly regarded in specialist circles. As an inventor, he held patents in Europe, the United States of America and Canada

He lived in Fischbach .
