Günther Brandt

Günther Brandt (born October 1, 1898 in Kiel ; † 1973 ) was a German anthropologist and National Socialist .

Life

Günther Brandt joined the Imperial Navy in 1915 and was a lieutenant at sea in the First World War . Ehr was released there on March 31, 1919. As a member of the Ehrhardt Marine Brigade , he took part in the Kapp Putsch in 1920. He joined the NSDAP in 1921 and was thus one of the earliest so-called " old fighters " of the National Socialist movement. In the same year his doctorate Brandt as a doctor of medicine. In 1922 he was one of the accomplices in the murder of Reich Foreign Minister Walther Rathenau and was sentenced to four years in prison.

After his release from prison, Günther Brandt went to the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Anthropology as an assistant in 1931 . He rejoined the NSDAP (membership number 2,579,863). Brandt served during the Second World War in the 12th UBootjagdflottille the Navy and was awarded the on December 23, 1943 Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross awarded.

After the war, Günther Brandt practiced as a specialist in internal medicine .
