Helmut Geys

Helmut Geys (born September 23, 1927 in Munich ; † April 14, 2012 ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Geys attended the Simmernschule and the Alte Realgymnasium in Munich. After doing military service and being a prisoner of war, he graduated from high school in Munich-Pasing in 1947 . He studied law at the University of Munich and passed the 1st and 2nd state examinations. He was a clerk at an insurance company, a government assessor in the pension administration and from 1958 a judge at the Munich Social Court .

In 1949 Geys became a member of the SPD. There he was local and district chairman in Fürstenfeldbruck and exercised various other functions. In 1956 he became a member of the Fürstenfeldbruck city council, in 1966 he became a member of the Fürstenfeldbruck district council , where he was chairman of the SPD district parliamentary group. From 1974 to 1986 he was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament .
