Helmut Kaiserling

Helmut Gustav Richard Kaiserling (born April 6, 1906 in Berlin ; † March 13, 1989 in Siegen ) was a German pathologist .

Life

Helmut Kaiserling was the son of the pathologist and university professor Johann Carl Kaiserling . He passed the Abitur in Königsberg in 1927. He then completed a medical degree at the universities of Munich, Paris, Berlin and Königsberg, which he completed in 1932 with the medical state examination. He then did his medical internship at the University Neurological Clinic in Königsberg and, from 1933, at the internal department of the municipal hospital. In 1934 he was awarded a Dr. med. doctorate and approved in the same year . At the University of Münster , he completed his specialist training as a pathologist under Friedrich Klinge , where he qualified as a professor there in 1937 in general and pathological anatomy. He then became a private lecturer and senior assistant at the Pathological Institute of the University of Münster.

After the beginning of the Second World War , he took part in the attack on Poland , the Western campaign and the Russian campaign, first as a pathological anatomist and finally as a consulting pathologist . He followed his teacher Klinge in 1941 to the University of Strasbourg , where he was appointed adjunct professor in 1943. Kaiserling, who had been a member of the NSDAP since 1937 , was scheduled by the Army Weapons Office in October 1942 for a research contract on “Combat gas in connection with radioactivity”.

After the end of the war he was in French and American captivity . From 1947 he was director of the pathological institute he had set up at the Jung-Stilling Hospital in Siegen . He retired in 1971.
