The Pik Mayakovsky ( Qullai Mayakovsky ) is a mountain in Tajikistan in the extreme south of the Pamir Mountains .
location
The mountain is located in the southwest of the autonomous province of Berg Badakhshan in the Nohija Ishkashim district . Mayakovsky Peak is 6,096 meters high and is the highest point of the Ishkashim range , which includes the western part of the Chess Dara range. The Karl Marx peak ( 6726 m ), the highest peak in the Chess Darak chain, is 70 km east-northeast. The dominant reference point is the 6105 m high peak marshal Grechko , located almost 30 km to the east, in the middle section of the chessdara chain.
Origin of name
The mountain was named after the Soviet poet Vladimir Vladimirovich Mayakovsky (1893–1930) by the first climbers .
Ascent history
The first ascent was made in 1947 by a Soviet mountaineering group led by V. Budenow.
