The Chess Darakette ( Russian Шахдари́нский хребе́т ) is a mountain range in the autonomous province of Berg-Badachschan in Tajikistan in the extreme southwest of the Pamirs .
The Schachdara chain forms the watershed between the Schachdara River in the north and the upper reaches of the Pandsch in the south and west. In the east, the 4436 m high Matz Pass forms the transition to the southern Alitschurkette to the east . The mountain range is divided into the 95 km long Ishkashim chain in the west and the 105 km long actual chessdara chain in the central and eastern part. The Chess Darakette reaches a height of 6726 m in the Karl Marx Peak . The neighboring summit Pik Engels has a height of 6510 m . The Pik Mayakovsky ( 6096 m ) is the highest mountain in the Ischkaschimkette. The highest peaks are glaciated. The cities of Ishkashim and Chorugh are located in the Pandschtal at the foot of the mountain range. The total glacier area of the Chess Darak chain is given as 433 km².
