Helmut Kostal

Helmut Kostal (born December 24, 1944 in Lüdenscheid ; † November 5, 2015 ) was a German entrepreneur .

In 1972 Kostal joined the family-owned company, the electronics and mechatronics manufacturer Kostal Group in Lüdenscheid. In 1981 he took over the management. Under his leadership, the company expanded internationally, including to Ireland, Great Britain, Japan, China and France. The Contact Systems division was founded in 1993, followed by the areas of automotive electrics, industrial electrics and testing technology in 1995. In 2008, Kostal and his company entered the Indian market through a joint venture and in 2009 they entered solar technology .

In 2010 he handed over the management of the company to his son Andreas, but remained a member of the management. He was chairman of the metal and electrical employers' association .

Politics, volunteering

Kostal was a member of the CDU councilor in Lüdenscheid for five years and an honorary judge at the Dortmund Social Court for seven years .
