Helmut Loebell (born March 26, 1894 in Gerdauen , East Prussia, † December 4, 1964 in Hamburg ) was a German ENT doctor and phoniatrist - pediatric audiologist , professor at the University of Münster .

Loebell attended the Royal Lyck High School in what is now Ełk and then studied in Königsberg and Kiel. He became a specialist at the University of Hamburg and University of Marburg with Walther Uffenorde . Loebell had been a private lecturer since 1926 and an associate professor in Marburg since 1930. In 1938 he was appointed director of the ENT clinic at the University of Münster (as the successor to the dismissed Heinrich Herzog ), in 1941 as full professor until he was released in 1962. In 1957 he was accepted into the Leopoldina . He had been a member of the SA as a Sturmbannarzt since 1933, a member of the NSDAP since 1937 , and also in the NS Lecturer Association and the NS Doctors Association . In November 1933 he signed the German professors' confession of Adolf Hitler . During World War II he was an advisory ENT doctor to an army and head of a reserve hospital department. Shortly before his death he received the Federal Cross of Merit .

Loebell's special achievements are in phoniatry . He worked with the Munich ENT doctor and phoniatrist Max Nadoleczny-Millioud and founded a special department for people with speech and voice disorders in Münster. He used modern audiology for this . His research found international recognition and earned him membership in many professional societies.
