from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Helmut Rechberger (born February 21, 1968 in Linz ) is an Austrian resource manager and university professor at the Technical University of Vienna. The focus of his research activities include the areas of urban mining (research into anthropogenic deposits), waste management , recycling technologies and scientific and technical assessment.

Education and professional career

After graduating from the Bundesrealgymnasium Linz, Helmut Rechberger studied process engineering at the Technical University of Vienna from 1986 to 1994 and then worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Water Quality and Waste Management at the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Vienna University of Technology from 1994 to 2000. During this time he wrote his dissertation on the subject of assessing material balances in waste management . After completing his doctorate, he spent a year researching at Yale University . In 2001 he moved to the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich , where he worked as a senior assistant at the Professorship for Material Management and Disposal Technology (Prof. Peter Baccini ). In 2003, Helmut Rechberger accepted the call to the Vienna University of Technology as Professor of Resource Management.
