Helmut Ruppert

Helmut Ruppert (born January 18, 1941 in Marktredwitz ) is a German professor of geography didactics . From 1997 to 2009 he was President of the University of Bayreuth .

Life

Helmut Ruppert did his school education from 1947 to 1960 in elementary school in Marktredwitz , Realgymnasium Marktredwitz, Oberrealschule in Weiden . From 1960 to 1965 he studied teaching at grammar schools , economics and geography at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg . He completed his doctorate in 1968. From 1968 to 1974 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Geography at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, from 1970 to 1972 spokesman for the assistant assembly of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, from 1971 to 1977 a member of the structural advisory board for the University of Bayreuth and in 1974 was appointed professor for Didactics of geography at the University of Bayreuth, which he held until his election as president until 1997. He was re-elected for a second term by the Senate in 2003. His successor in the office of President was Rüdiger Bormann .

Act

Helmut Ruppert made a significant contribution to the University of Bayreuth during his term of office and was involved in many restructurings.
