Helmut Schneider (business economist)

Helmut Schneider (born December 8, 1966 in Koblenz ) is a German business economist and has been a professor at the School of Management and Innovation (SMI) at the Steinbeis University in Berlin since 2006 .

Life

Schneider studied Political Science and Communication Science from 1988 to 1993 at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster, graduating with a Magister Artium. In addition, from 1990 to 1995 he completed a degree in business administration with a focus on marketing and trade, from which he graduated with a degree in business administration. From 1993 to 1996 Schneider did his doctorate in political science and received the title of Dr. phil. at the Westphalian Wilhelms University of Münster. Following this, Schneider took up a position as a research assistant at Heribert Meffert's chair and later as an academic advisor at the Institute for Marketing at the University of Münster. There he did his doctorate, also with summa cum laude, as Dr. rer. pole.

From 2003 to 2005 Schneider worked as an academic senior councilor at the Marketing Center in Münster. Subsequently, until he took over the chair for marketing and dialogue marketing at the Steinbeis University in Berlin, he was visiting professor for marketing at the German-speaking department for business administration at Marmara University in Istanbul.

Schneider has held the Chair of Marketing and Dialogue Marketing at the School of Management and Innovation since January 1, 2006. The chair is part of the "SVI Research Platform Dialog Marketing", which also includes the Dialog Marketing Competence Center (DMCC) of the University of Kassel and the Center for Interactive Direct Marketing and Media Management (CIM) of the University of Münster.

On July 5, 2010, Schneider was appointed by Federal Family Minister Kristina Schröder as one of eight experts in the expert commission for the eighth family report of the federal government.

Research priorities

As part of the “SVI research platform”, Schneider's chair deals in particular with issues of marketing with social relevance, such as B. communication in the public sector, volunteering or the compatibility of work and family. His research contributions can be found in nationally and internationally renowned journals.

In addition, Schneider founded the research center for family-conscious personnel policy together with Irene Gerlach and Alexander Dilger , which has been researching the role of companies in the context of work-life balance since 2005 .

As part of his research on a better work-life balance, Schneider was appointed to the expert commission for the Federal Government's Eighth Family Report. Since 2012 he has been a member of the expert committee for the “Germany rounds up” initiative. In 2016 Schneider was appointed to the board of trustees of berufundfamilie.
