Helmut Seng

Helmut Seng (born December 20, 1961 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German classical philologist and patristician .

Helmut Seng studied classical philology and evangelical theology at the universities of Mainz , Urbino , Tübingen and London . In 1989 he passed the First Theological Examination. After graduating as Dr. phil. at the University of Mainz in 1994 he worked there from 1994 to 2000 as a research assistant, from 1995 to 1996 at the same time at the University of Trier and after the Second Theological Examination (1999) for one year at the Institute for European History in Mainz. In 2000 he moved to the University of Konstanz , where he completed his habilitation in 2003 and obtained a Dr. theol. received his doctorate. In 2005/2006 he represented the Latinist chair at the University of Konstanz and taught there from 2006 to 2009 as a temporary academic advisor. Since 2009 he has been a research assistant at the University of Frankfurt am Main . In 2010 he was visiting professor at the Ecole pratique des hautes études of the Sorbonne in Paris . In the 2012/2013 winter semester he was a W3 professor for Classical Philology at the University of Cologne . In the summer semester 2013 he was a substitute professor for Latin studies at the Humboldt University in Berlin .
