Milan Majstorović ( Serbian - Cyrillic Милан Мајсторовић ; born January 28, 1983 in Novi Sad , SR Serbia ) is a Serbian basketball player who is usually used in the position of power forward. Among other things, he played in the German basketball league for the EWE Baskets Oldenburg, with which he became German champions in 2009 . Since 2013 he has been playing for Trefl Sopot in Poland .

Career

The 2.07 m tall Majstorović, who is considered a good distance thrower despite his size, started his basketball career in the youth department of the then Yugoslav club Spartak Subotica. There he quickly made his breakthrough and made his debut in the club's first team at the age of 18. Majstorović quickly fought his way up to the high level, was able to achieve an average of between eight and nine points per season in two years, and was therefore recommended for higher tasks. After winning the gold medal at the Summer Universiade 2003 with the Serbian-Montenegrin student selection, the former youth and junior national player left the club and signed a contract with KK Reflex Belgrade, where he was able to gain international experience for the first time in the ULEB Cup and in 2004 the ABA- League won. The following year they won the Serbian-Montenegrin cup competition. After two years and an internationally very successful season, in which Majstorović was able to achieve 11.3 points per game, he was signed in 2007 by CB Berri from Bilbao in the Spanish ACB league . Here, however, he could not stage himself as desired.

After the end of the two-year contract, the Bosnian-Serbian coach Predrag Krunić brought Majstorović to the German first division club EWE Baskets from Oldenburg in the basketball league . In the championship play-offs you could defeat the defending champion Brose Baskets in the first round , but lost the semi-final series against the eventual title winner ALBA Berlin . The basketball Bundesliga 2008/09 then became the most successful season of the Oldenburg club, when they moved into the final series for the championship for the first time with a play-off defeat as third in the main round. Here they won the German championship for the club for the first time under dramatic circumstances in the final seconds of the decisive fifth final game against Telekom Baskets Bonn . After winning the Champions Cup at the beginning of the following season, the team also competed as German champions for the first time in the highest European club competition ULEB Euroleague 2009/10 , in which, however, only one group victory in ten games was achieved in the preliminary round. In the basketball Bundesliga 2009/10 , however, this time the defending champion was also first in the main round. In the play-offs, however, they disappointed and were eliminated in the first round after just one win in four games.

After the disappointing end of the season Majstorović left Oldenburg and went back to the Spanish ACB league, where he signed a contract with Assignia Bàsquet from Manresa . After only one season in Spain, in which Manresa only finished fourth from bottom of the table, he returned to the EWE Baskets in Oldenburg in summer 2011. In the 2011/12 basketball Bundesliga, however , the club missed the championship play-offs for the first time in five years. In addition to coach Krunić, Majstorović did not get a new contract. Then Majstorović only signed a new contract with the Polish first division club Trefl from Sopot for the 2013/14 season .
