Helmut Walter Klein
Helmut Walter Klein (born November 7, 1918 in Groß Strehlitz ; † November 17, 2013 in Hamburg ; artist name: parvus ) was a German artist and graphic designer . He is the inventor of peg-art (parvus experimental graphics) .
Life
Klein grew up in Groß Strehlitz and studied art in Breslau from 1937 to 1939 . After the Second World War he lived in Hamburg , where he first worked as a commercial artist. He then became a freelance artist in the 1970s. From 1978 to 1990 he ran a master school for amateur artists in Hamburg-Volksdorf .
Create
As a commercial artist, Klein worked for large companies during the German economic miracle. B. Colgate-Palmolive .
During his time as a freelance artist, Klein developed peg-art (parvus experimental graphics) , a combination of painting and photo development.
As head of his own school in Hamburg-Volksdorf and as a lecturer at the adult education center in Hamburg and Norderstedt, he mainly taught classical painting. The golden ratio and an image structure that is determined by the proportions of geometric figures shaped his works and his school.
Works
Helmut Walter Klein's oeuvre is diverse. His paintings include modern works such as B. the oil painting “the 18th birthday” and pictures in the style of peg-art . His works also include licensed copies of paintings by old masters of the Renaissance, e.g. B. the man with the gold helmet . Portraits and thematic paintings also belong to Klein's collection of works, including the oil painting “maritim spirit”, which was created in 1992 on the occasion of the Hamburg harbor birthday, and “Walpurgis Night” from 1986, in which the artist referred to Goethe's Faust . A recurring motif that Klein depicted in several pictures is the Annaberg , which is not far from his hometown Groß Strehlitz in Silesia. His works bear the signature "parvus", the Latin word for "small".
