Helmut Wanschap
Helmut Wanschap (born November 14, 1911 in Berlin ; † April 3, 1987 in Kusel ) was a German painter.
Life
Helmut Wanschap was born in Berlin in 1911, where he attended the arts and crafts school and became a master student of Professor Kautsch. Military service and the Soviet captivity of war interrupted his artistic work. After the Second World War , he moved to the Palatinate in Wahnwegen before moving to Kusel with his wife and two children in the mid-1950s, where he died in 1987.

Helmut Wanschap worked mainly as a portrait and landscape painter. Stylistically, he was close to Impressionism , which is particularly evident in his light-flooded landscapes of his adopted home in the Palatinate. In addition, he created so-called “bread pictures” that show seductive beauties and that he signed with “Valeh” in order to separate them from his actual art.
