Helmuth Vavra

Helmuth Vavra (born September 26, 1966 in Vienna ) is an Austrian cabaret artist and writer of cabaret programs.

Life

Vavra attended the Marianum secondary school in Vienna. He graduated from high school in 1985 and then began studying law in Vienna, which he interrupted shortly before finishing to devote himself entirely to cabaret. He took acting lessons at the acting workshop of Michael A. Mohapp at the Graumann Theater in Vienna.

At the beginning of his career he worked for a few years as an author for the cabaret Simpl and then for the Wiener Metropol , where the successful pieces "Plant the Vampires" and "Die Drei von der Gasstelle" were created. Both pieces were also recorded by ORF and later broadcast across Austria.

In 1992 he co-founded the cabaret group Heilbutt & Rosen , where he appears both as a writer, producer and performer.

In 2010 Vavra presented his first solo program “Vavra's Bed Stories”. Parts of this program were also included in the best-of program “Erntedankfest”, with which Heilbutt & Rosen also celebrated their 20th birthday. In 2012 Vavra wrote and produced the cabaret program “Flotter 4er”. In 2013 he was seen as part of the Hyundai Cabaret Days on ORF. In September 2016 his second solo program Che GueVavra premiered at CasaNova Vienna .

Vavra has been married since 2000 and lives in Vienna. He is a member of the Catholic student associations KaV Norica Vienna (since 1986) and KAV Capitolina Rome (since 1995).
