Iris Fink (born April 5, 1966 in Voitsberg ) is an Austrian author , cabaret historian and director of the Austrian Cabaret Archive .

Life

Iris Fink grew up in Rosental an der Kainach and after graduating from the Voitsberg commercial academy, studied business administration at the Karl-Franzens-University Graz , then folklore / cultural anthropology . She wrote her diploma thesis and dissertation on various aspects of Austrian cabaret. During her school and study days, Fink was also active in the literary field, mainly writing plays, for which she also received a drama scholarship. The play “Anna” was shown both as a radio play on ORF radio and in the stage version in a staging in the Theater im Keller , Graz, 1990. From 1994 to 1998 she was the managing director and artistic director of the Hin & Wider cabaret in the Graz Theatercafé . Fink is a co-founder of the Austrian Cabaret Archive and has been its director since 2000. Her other activities include: curator and organizer of exhibitions and events at home and abroad, lectures, contributions (including for the cultural broadcaster Ö1 ) as well as publications and essays. She has lectureships at the University of Vienna at the Institute for Theater, Film and Media Studies.

Her main areas of work and research are: cabaret , cabaret and satire in German-speaking countries.
