Historical view of the Casanova Revue Bar

The CasaNova Vienna is a cabaret and event stage in Vienna's 1st district, Innere Stadt , which emerged from the first Viennese revue bar, the Casanova from the 1920s, and which has hosted numerous national and international stars in the past. The American-French singer and dancer Josephine Baker stood here on stage in 1958, as did the double conférenciers Karl Farkas / Ernst Waldbrunn and Hugo Wiener . Some scenes from the 1949 film The Third Man with Orson Welles , directed by Carol Reed , were also filmed here.

Up until 2006, regular clubbing was held here under the title Casanova Line under the leadership of the operator Johann Hirschhofer. In 2011 Harry Diem and Martin Reiter took over the restaurant and expanded it into a modern cabaret with 240 seats, which was reopened in September 2013.

With the StartRampe format created in 2015, young talents from the cabaret scene will find an opportunity to present themselves to a larger audience for the first time in a professional technical framework and to exchange ideas with established artists.

The ORF occasionally records cabaret performances in CasaNova Vienna.
