The Helwan University ( Arabic جامعة حلوان) is a state technical university in Cairo founded in 1975 with a total of 18 faculties. The university takes its name from the Cairo suburb of Ain-Helwan , where its main campus is located. It was largely funded by German development aid, as was its predecessor, which was founded as an engineering school.

The rector of the university is Yasser Sakr.
