Hengwm Ring Cairn
Hengwm ring cairn is a megalithic in the form of a ring Cairns in the hills above the Merioneth coast near the river Ceunant Egryn, northeast of Barmouth -Llanaber in Gwynedd in Wales .
Hengwm is a small ring cairn about 6.0 m in diameter, with outward facing stones and an inner cairn about 2.0 m in diameter and 0.75 m high, in the northwestern part of the ring cairn. In its south-western part there may be a stone box . Stone mounds can be seen in most of the grounds of the type. The Ring Cairn is surrounded by a 1.0 m wide and 0.2 m high wall.
From the hill on which the Ring Cairn lies, one overlooks Cardigan Bay to the west , the bay at the mouth of the St. George's Canal . The location of the facility gives a similar impression to the Bryn Cader Faner and Carn Llechart facilities a little further north . Nearby are the megalithic complexes of Carneddau Hengwm , the settlement of Mynydd Egryn , the Hillfort Pen-y-Dinas and the remains of the stone circles of Ffridd Newydd.
