Henk Kummeling

Hendrikus Rutgerus Bernardus Maria "Henk" Kummeling (born January 10, 1961 in Pannerden ) is a Dutch law scholar and professor at the University of Utrecht . Since June 1, 2018 he has been rector of the University of Utrecht.

Live and act

Kummeling studied law at the University of Nijmegen . There he was in 1988 with that of Tijn Kortmann supervised rechtsverglreichend-public legal writing "Advisering in het publiekrecht. A legal study. Een wetenschappelijke proeve op het gebied van de rechtsgeleerdheid " to Dr. iur. PhD. He then worked from 1989 as an associate professor for constitutional and administrative law at the University of Utrecht . In 1994 he became a full professor for constitutional and administrative law at Tilburg University . A year later he switched to the full chair for constitutional and administrative law at the University of Utrecht, which he has held since then. From 2008 to 2014 he was dean of the Utrecht Faculty of Law and Economics. Since June 1, 2018 he has been rector of the University of Utrecht.

His main research interests are in Dutch municipal law, on which he has written a commentary that has appeared several times as co-editor. He also focuses on constitutional and parliamentary law in the Netherlands, on which there are also numerous publications.
