Poet and songwriter

For the Riehler Schrebergartenverein he wrote his first song in 1978 in Cologne dialect, "Et Jadeleed" (The Garden Song). The group Riehler Jademusikante was formed , for which Berzau wrote other garden songs.

A short time later it became the group Riehler Jassemusikante , which consisted in changing line-up until the 1990s. Berzau wrote for this group and also for many other groups, choirs and individual interpreters such as Monika Kampmann .

In 1980 Berzau met the versatile Cologne artist Uschi Werner-Fluss , who became his partner. For them he wrote numerous songs and complete programs, some of which they performed together under the name Schneiwießje un Ruserut . The name of the duo is derived from the hair color, Uschi Werner-Fluss has red hair, Henner Berzau already snow-white hair at the time.

1980 is also the year in which the WDR broadcast the first "Cologne" Christmas program. The title of the show Sidd hösch, leev Lück sidd stell is taken from a Chreesdaachleed by Henner Berzau.
