Monika Kampmann (born July 19, 1946 in Cologne ) is a songwriter who sings her songs in High German and in Cologne dialect . Her trademark is the color purple for her clothes, bags, glasses and accessories. Another special feature is her stool, which she brings to all appearances.

Life

Due to her father, who played "Harmonie" in the mandolin orchestra , Monika came into contact with music at an early age and got her own guitar at the age of nine. She graduated from the Ursuline School in Cologne . She studied pedagogy, mathematics and history for the teaching profession . After her legal clerkship, she worked for two years as an assistant at the University of Education in Freiburg im Breisgau . As a senior teacher, she taught at the Cologne- Höhenhaus high school , which later became part of the Cologne-Höhenhaus comprehensive school ( Willy-Brandt -Gesamtschule), at the Aggertal-Gymnasium and at the Cologne- Porz city high school . During this time, she took a six-year leave of absence in order to set up Kölsch groups in schools and to further develop her work as a songwriter. Today Monika Kampmann lives in Rösrath near Cologne in the so-called "Villa Musica" together with her long-time musical partner Ingrid Ittel-Fernau.

Act

Monika Kampmann began her stage career in 1976 with Udo Werner's talent test at the Tanzbrunnen in Cologne. Since then she has performed with her guitar on many occasions, on German and international stages, as well as at birthday and anniversary celebrations. With the song "Alt-Kölle" by Peter Berchem , set to music by Gerold Kürten , which she heard for the first time in 1978 while on vacation in Spain , her love and her introduction to Cologne's songs began. The following years of collaboration and coordination with Gerold Kürten and the "Kölsch professor" Heribert A. Hilgers strengthened this love and led to a meticulous handling of the genesis of the songs.

Since 1980 she has offered her students a study group for the Cologne language and customs. Initially folklore became the socially critical songwriter, so she accompanied Katharina Focke under the direction of Barbara von Sell in 1984 during her election campaign appearances with musical commentaries on topics such as environmental protection, equality, the advancement of women, unemployment, discrimination, role stereotypes and the like. In the Cologne Senftöpfchen , in the Philharmonie Cologne until 2013, in the Kulturverein Schloss Eulenbroich and in the town hall in Cologne- Mülheim , Monika Kampmann and Ingrid Ittel-Fernau have a number of fixed appearances every year as a cabaret duo. Highlights are the events for “Cologne Christmas”, which is still maintained in its original way and whose rediscoverers at the end of the 1970s were primarily Henner Berzau , Hans Knipp and Gerold Kürten as lyricists and composers and Monika Kampmann as interpreter.
