The Hennessy Islands are a group of small islands off the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula . They extend in the archipelago of the Biscoe Islands over a length of 3 km and are 6 km southeast of Jurva Point , the southeast end of the Renaud Island .
The largest of the islands are shown for the first time on an Argentine map from 1957. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named them in 1959 after Jack Hennessy (1885-1954), from 1940 until his death deputy head of the British Met Office , who had collected all available reports on sea ice observations from 1902 to 1953 .
