Henri-Christophe Rieken

Henri Christophe Rieken (* December 6, 1797 in Jever as Heinrich Christoph Rieken;April 16, 1875 in Brussels ) was a German - Belgian doctor and civil servant.

Life

Rieken studied medicine at the University of Göttingen , where he received his doctorate in 1818 with a thesis on diabetes mellitus .

He first organized health services in accordance with the Vienna Convention for the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg have come Principality of Birkenfeld and was - probably through the mediation of Metternich - 1835 personal physician of the first Belgian King Leopold I.
