Henri-Marie Lenoury

Henri-Marie Lenoury , called Henri Noury (born November 6, 1771 in Craconville , † September 25, 1839 ibid) was a French general de division of the artillery.

Life

Lenoury was a cadet at the École d'application de l'artillerie et du génie ( Abbey of St. Arnulf ) and was promoted there several times for outstanding achievements.

As an officer he was assigned to the Armée du Nord in 1794 and fought there in the coalition wars until 1802. In the following year he was stationed as chief de bataillon on the island of Elba .

He fought with the Grande Armée on December 2, 1805 in the Battle of Austerlitz and was then brought into Napoleon's staff. With effect from April 24, 1806 he acted as Chief of Staff of the V Corps and was wounded as such on February 6, 1807 at Ostrołęka in Poland.

After his recovery, Lenoury took part in the Napoleonic Wars on the Iberian Peninsula and was promoted to general in 1809 for his bravery.

From 1809 Lenoury was under the command of General Jean Reynier , but returned to Spain on January 20, 1810. In 1812 he took part in the Russian campaign as well as in the battles near Dresden (26/27 August 1813), Leipzig (16/19 October 1813) and Hanau (30/31 October 1813).

After Napoleon's abdication, Lenoury joined the Bourbons and served in the army of King Louis XVIII. When Napoleon left the island of Elba and his reign of the Hundred Days began, Lenoury rejoined him and was reassigned to the Armée du Nord.

Henri-Marie Lenoury died 42 days before his 68th birthday on September 25, 1839 in his hometown, where he found his final resting place.
