Henri Francotte

Henri Francotte (ca.1900)

Henri Francotte (born August 10, 1856 in Liège , † June 8, 1918 in Dalhem ) was a Belgian ancient historian .

Henri Francotte, the brother of the lawyer and politician Gustave Francotte (1852–1925), studied law and antiquity. From 1887 he was an associate professor, from 1890 a full professor of antiquity at the University of Liège . Like his brother, he was active in politics and charity. In the last few years of his life he was provincial councilor and mayor of his parish, Dalhem.

His research work was particularly dedicated to constitutional law and government administration of the Greeks. The University of Athens awarded him the occasion of its 75th anniversary on April 10, 1912, the legal honorary doctorate .
