Henri Fugère

Henri Fugère (* 1872 in Saint-Mandé , France , † 1944 in Paris , France) was a French sculptor and medal engraver .

Life

Fugère studied sculpture at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris with Jules Cavalier , Louis-Ernest Barrias and Denys Puech .

Fugère turned predominantly to the Art Deco style and initially specialized in playful bronzes of idealized beauties such as his figure Salome . Other works show realistic portrayals of soldiers or workers. For his chryselephantine works he used materials such as bronze, ivory and stone. He also worked as a medal engraver.

From 1893 he exhibited regularly at the salons of the Société des Artistes Français , to whose deputy chair he was finally elected. In 1927 he received an honorable mention .
