Henri Hubert (born June 23, 1872 in Paris ; died May 25, 1927 in Chatou ) was a French archaeologist and sociologist who distinguished himself through work in comparative religious studies .

Live and act

Henri Hubert was born in Paris in 1872. He is best known for his work on the Celts (The Celts and the Celtic Expansion up to the La Tène Period ) and his collaboration with Marcel Mauss and other members of the sociological journal Année Sociologique, founded and edited by Émile Durkheim . Henri Hubert was Directeur d'études at the École des hautes études and assistant curator at the Musée des Antiquités nationales ( Saint-Germain-en-Laye Castle ). Like Marcel Mauss, he worked at the Institute of the V e Section des sciences religieuses , the director of which was Albert Réville (1826-1906), who held the chair of the Histoire des religions at the Collège de France , which was established in 1879 . Henri Hubert, together with Isidore Lévy, translated the textbook on the history of religion by PD Chantepie de la Saussaye into French .
