Henri Malosse (born October 6, 1954 in Montpellier , France ) is a French business representative and the 30th President of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) (April 2013 - October 2015).

Life

Henri Malosse was born to Corsican parents.

At the age of 16 he began to explore the cultures of Eastern Europe. He speaks French , Polish , Russian and German . In 1976 he met Lech Wałęsa in Gdansk .

In the same year he graduated from the Institut d'études politiques de Paris .

He works on the European guidelines for SMEs , which inspired the creation of the Euro Info Center . He also worked on the establishment of a delegation from the Assembly of the French Chambers of Commerce and Industry to the European Union and became its President six years later. He also works on the development of the European Association of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises in the European Parliament .

In 1993 he developed the DESS postgraduate course in Strasbourg called European Public Policies .

Since 1995 he has been a member of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), a subsidiary body of the European Union. In April 2013 he was elected its 30th President. Rudy Aernoudt became his head of cabinet .

Malosse is the author of over 50 reports, including his criticism of the Bolkestein Directive and various Bückers.

On March 31, 2014 during a visit by Xi Jinping in Brussels , he participated in a demonstration for the respect of human rights in China.

On October 10, 2014, he visited the 14th Dalai Lama , Tendzin Gyatsho , in Dharamsala . Following the visit, MEPs Marine Le Pen and Philip Claeys called for the dissolution of the EESC in a draft resolution.

Malosse is one of the 89 people from the European Union against whom Russia - as it became known at the end of May 2015 - has imposed an entry ban.

Awards

On October 15, 2014, he was awarded the Legion of Honor by the former President of France, Valery Giscard d'Estaing , in Brussels. He is also the holder of the Ordre national du Mérite .
