Henri Ramière (full name: Henri Marie Félix Ramière) (born July 10, 1821 in Castres , France , † January 3, 1884 in Toulouse ) was a French Jesuit and publicist .

Life

Henri Ramière entered the Jesuit order on July 15, 1839. He became professor of theology and philosophy at the Jesuit college in Vals-près-le-Puy near Le Puy-en-Velay , where he got to know the idea of ​​an apostolate in prayer around the veneration of the Sacred Heart . From 1861 he devoted himself entirely to this form of apostolate and founded the monthly magazine Messager du Cœur de Jésus - Bulletin mensuel de L'Apostolat de la Prière (German: "Sendbote des Herzens Jesu - Monthly Bulletin of the Apostolate of Prayer") in Toulouse for this purpose he wrote until 1884. This magazine was widely distributed and appeared in 42 countries and in 26 languages when the First World War broke out . At the First Vatican Council he was theological advisor to the Bishop of Beauvais and advocated the dogma of infallibility and the consecration of the world to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, but the premature dissolution of the council made this plan impossible. From 1870 to 1873 he was editor of the Jesuit magazine Études , but his most important occupation remained working for the Messager du Coeur de Jésus . In April 1875, Father Ramière put Pope Pius IX. presented a petition asking for Rome and the whole world to be consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This petition was signed by 525 bishops. This petition was also unsuccessful.
