Henri Servant

Henri Servant (* 1945 in Gard; † July 14, 2011 ) was a French diplomat .

Life

Henri Servant was the son of Suzanne Rouzaud and Henri Servant. From 1978 to 1981, Henri Servant was employed in the Middle East Department at the French Foreign Ministry , where he became Deputy Director. From December 3, 1981 to January 14, 1986 he was ambassador to Damascus , Syria . In the aftermath of the murder of Louis Delamare , Henri Servant was called to Paris for consultations . He was then appointed Head of the Middle East Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Henri Servant was to be the ambassador to Tehran , since in 1987 four French citizens were held hostage in Lebanon , a French ambassador was not sent to Tehran. From 1987 to 1989 he was ambassador to Mohammed Zia-ul-Haq in Islamabad , Pakistan . In 1995 he founded the Association d'amitié Franco-Syrienne with Fernand Rouillon, of which he became honorary chairman.
