Alain Grenier

Alain Grenier (born November 16, 1930 in Algiers ) is a former French diplomat .

Life

Alain Grenier is the son of Jean Grenier , a philosopher who analyzed the work of Albert Camus . He studied at the Institut d'études politiques de Paris and at the École nationale d'administration . From 1964 to 1968 he was counselor in the trade department of the embassy in Damascus . Alain Grenier was Consul General in Boston until 1978 . Until 1979 he was a member of the Board of Directors of L'Agence Havas . From January 14, 1986 to June 30, 1989 he was ambassador to Damascus. From July 7, 1989 to May 27, 1992 he was ambassador to Tunis . In 1992 he became Ambassadeur de France. From 1992 to 1996 he was ambassador to Portugal .
