Henri Van Seben
Henri Van Seben (born November 15, 1825 in Brussels , † November 23, 1913 in Ixelles / Elsene ) was a Belgian painter of genre scenes and landscapes.
Orphaned in childhood, he studied from 1839 to 1850 at the Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten in The Hague with Hubertus van Hove and Adolf Dillens .
In the following ten years he settled in Ixelles / Elsene, where he lived until his death. He received the gold medal in the Brussels Salon in 1881.
His favorite subjects were landscapes and genre scenes in rural areas, both in Belgium and in Holland, often with skaters in winter. Van Seben exhibited regularly at the triennial exhibitions and at the Société royale belge des aquarellistes , of which he was a member from 1858.
