Henriette Auegg
Henriette Auegg (born July 22, 1841 in Linz , † November 24, 1912 in Graz ) was an Austrian writer, educator and nurse. She wrote numerous works on nursing .

Henriette Auegg's father came from an Upper Austrian landowning family whose ancestors belonged to the Swiss gentry. Her mother was the portrait painter Eleonore Auegg , b. Dilg (1811-1890). She came from the Viennese artist family Adamberger. Auegg was the niece of the historian Alfred Ritter von Arneth , whose mother Antonie Adamberger had been Theodor Körner's fiancée .
Life
Henriette Auegg received her upbringing from her parents and learned autodidactic from the age of twelve, as her parents could not allow her to attend school for financial reasons. At the age of 18 she became the tutor of Ignaz Attems, son of Count Ferdinand Attems, and went with the family to Graz in the summer of 1861 , where she worked as a partner and as a family doctor.
From 1861 to 1879, Auegg devoted herself to medical and theological studies and was active as a poor carer. She also published fairy tales and short stories in Austrian daily newspapers and the Elberfelder Zeitung. In 1877 she wrote her work on nursing as a subject , which earned her the interest of humanitarian associations. In the following years she gave lectures on medical issues. Auegg was elected to the committee of the Austrian Red Cross in 1878 and in 1895 received a position in the federal management of the Austrian “Society of the Red Cross” in Vienna . She was involved in numerous associations in Graz and was the president of the "Aid Association for Teachers, Educators and Bonnen " founded in Graz in 1891 , which existed until 1920. She published essays and features in local newspapers. Auegg also worked as a doctor and treated the poor free of charge “according to homeopathic and hydropathic systems, without a diploma, but tacitly tolerated.” Auegg was awarded the Elisabeth Order for her charitable commitment .
Auegg died in the Palais Attems and was buried in the St. Leonhard cemetery.
