Henriette Löwisch (* 1965 ) is a German journalist. In 2017 she took over the management of the German School of Journalism (DJS) from Jörg Sadrozinski . Before that, she was the foreign correspondent and editor-in-chief of the AFP news agency . She began her career as a freelancer for the Badische Zeitung in Freiburg. From 1986 she herself was a student at the DJS.

Career

Löwisch grew up in Freiburg. Before she was accepted at the DJS in 1986, she worked as a freelancer for the Badische Zeitung. During her training at the DJS, she studied journalism at the LMU in Munich, worked as a freelancer for a women's magazine and as an assistant director at ORF. After graduating, she started working for Agence France-Presse (AFP) as a foreign correspondent reporting from Brussels and Washington, DC . In 2001 she became editor-in-chief at AFP Germany.

While she was working for the AFP, Löwisch began to pass on her knowledge to young journalists. Since 2009 she has been leading the Masters program in Environmental and Science Journalism at the University of Montana in Missoula .

Her brother is the taz - editor in chief Georg Löwisch , her mother, the CDU politician Sigrun Löwisch , her father was the jurist Manfred Löwisch .
