Georg Löwisch (* 1974 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German journalist . From September 2015 to April 2020 he was editor-in-chief of the daily newspaper (taz).

family

Georg Löwisch is the son of the former CDU member of the Bundestag Sigrun Löwisch and the legal scholar Manfred Löwisch . His sister Henriette Löwisch has headed the German School of Journalism since 2017 .

Career

Löwisch volunteered at the taz from 1998 . After studying at the University of Leipzig , he started working for the taz in 2001 as editor of the report page . In 2005 he became a domestic reporter and from 2009 head of department of the newly founded sonntaz. Since 2012 he has been working as head of text for the political magazine Cicero .

In January 2020 it was announced that Löwisch will leave the taz at the end of April 2020 and become editor-in-chief of Christ & Welt, the extra pages of the weekly newspaper Die Zeit für Glaube, Geist and Gesellschaft, as well as the author of the paper.
