Henry Arnold Cumberbatch
Henry Arnold Cumberbatch ( June 27, 1858 - December 3, 1918 ) was a British diplomat.
He was a son of the diplomat Robert William Cumberbatch (1821–1876).
Cumberbatch was British consul in Adrianople from 1888 to 1893 , consul in Ankara from 1893 to 1896 , consul in Smyrna from 1896 to 1908 (consul general from 1900) and consul general in Beirut from 1908 to 1914 .
In 1896 he was named Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George .
He was the father of naval officer Henry Carlton Cumberbatch (1900-1966), the grandfather of the actor Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch and the great grandfather of the actor Benedict Cumberbatch .
