Timothy Carlton

Timothy Carlton Congdon Cumberbatch (born October 4, 1939 in Reading , Berkshire , England ) is a British actor .

Life

Carlton is the son of naval officer Henry Carlton Cumberbatch (1900-1966) and grandson of diplomat Henry Arnold Cumberbatch . He began his career in 1966 with guest appearances on the television series The World of Wooster , Theater 625 and Talking to a Stranger . From 1968 he was a busy television actor with episode roles in numerous series formats. The formats also known in Germany included Die Profis and Jim Bergerac determined . In addition to roles in the British soap operas Coronation Street and Heartbeat , he also played in a number of feature films, including Hell Hunt to the End of the World and Greenfingers - Tough Boys and Tender Drives .

Carlton is married to actress Wanda Ventham and their son Benedict Cumberbatch is also an actor. In the English television series Sherlock , with Benedict Cumberbatch in the title role, the two played the parents of Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes .
