Wanda Ventham

Wanda Ventham (born August 5, 1935 in Brighton , East Sussex , England ) is a British actress .

Life

Ventham attended the Central School of Speech and Drama . She made her feature film debut at the side of Anna Neagle and Sylvia Syms in the drama My Teenage Daughter . She subsequently starred in various British films, including two films from the Carry-on… film series and in Richard Lester's comedy The Certain Kniff . Her breakthrough as a film actress never succeeded, which is why she mainly worked in television productions. She had guest roles on some of the most successful British television series of the 1960s, such as Secret Order for John Drake , With Umbrella, Charm and Bowler Hat and Number 6 . Between 1970 and 1971 she played Col. Virginia Lake in the science fiction series UFO . She appeared in different roles three times in the Doctor Who series, ten years apart ; 1967 as Jean Rock , 1977 as Thea Ransome and 1987 as Faroon . She also starred in soap operas such as Emmerdale and Heartbeat .

Ventham is married to actor Timothy Carlton , their son Benedict Cumberbatch is also an actor.
