biography
Sylvia Syms was best known for her films between 1950 and 1960. However, she can still be seen in more recent films, on television and in the theater.
It became known overnight. In her second film, My Teenage Daughter (1954), she played Anna Neagles "problem daughter " and until 1960 she worked with Flora Robson , Orson Welles , Stanley Holloway , Lilli Palmer and William Holden - she also appeared in the film Ice Cold in Alexandria - Firestorm Over Africa (1958). With her in a leading role alongside John Mills , Anthony Quayle and Harry Andrews , this flick has become a cult film in recent years as an excerpt was used in a beer commercial. The action is an entertaining story about four British Army medics trying to cross enemy territory. A love scene between Mills and Syms was cut out because it was felt to be too rough.
