Henry Francis Nachtrieb also in the spelling variant Henry F. Nachtrieb (born May 11, 1857 in Galion , Ohio , † July 25, 1942 in Berkeley , California ) was an American zoologist and university professor .

Life

Family and education

Henry Francis Nachtrieb, son of Christian Nachtrieb and his wife Friedericka Diether Nachtrieb, who grew up near the city ​​of Galion in the state of Ohio, graduated from German Wallace College in Berea from 1874 to 1877 . He then turned to the study of biology at the University of Minnesota , where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1882 . He went on to study zoology at Johns Hopkins University , where he remained until 1885.

Henry Francis Nachtrieb married Anna Eisele on June 21, 1886. The after-drive, who resided on Pleasant Avenue in Minneapolis during his career , moved to Berkeley, California, where he died in the summer of 1942 at the age of 85.

Henry Francis Nachtrieb returned to the University of Minnesota after completing his studies at Johns Hopkins University, where he was transferred to the position of Instructor in Biology , in 1886 he was promoted to Assistant Professor , a year later to Professor of Animal Biology and Head of Animal Biology Department .
