Henry Habberley Price , also HH Price for short (born May 17, 1899 in Neath ( Glamorgan Wales ), † November 26, 1984 in Oxford ) was a Welsh philosopher whose scientific interest was the philosophy of perception . But he also dealt with questions of parapsychology .

Live and act

Price received his education at Winchester College and New College , Oxford. He graduated with honors in 1921 in Literae humaniores . He was a fellow at Magdalen College , Oxford (1922–1924), lecturer in philosophy at Liverpool University (1922–1923), fellow and tutor at Trinity College Oxford (1924–1935), lecturer in philosophy at Oxford (1932–1935) and Wykeham Professor of Logic and Fellow of New College (1935-1959). Price was President of the Aristotelian Society from 1943 to 1944 , and was elected to the British Academy in 1943 .

Price was known for his work on the philosophy of perception . He advocated a sophisticated ' sense date report', sense-datum account, although he rejected phenomenalism . In his work Thinking and Experience , he analyzed the path from perception to thinking and advocated a 'dispositionalist representation' of the dispositionalist account of conceptual cognition . Concepts would be seen as a kind of intellectual ability that manifested itself as cognitive ability in contexts of perception. For Price, however, the concepts were not a mental unit or representations. Price, who dealt with various concepts and theories in individual publications on parapsychology, was twice recommended the position of presidency of the Society for Psychical Research , for example in the period from 1939 to 1940 and 1960 to 1961.
