Henry Plée

Henry Plée (born May 24, 1923 in Arras , France , † August 19, 2014 in Paris , France) was a French karate pioneer and holder of the 10th Dan . In 1946 he began in Japan with karate lessons from Rikutaro Fukuda, a direct student of master Funakoshi Gichin (founder of the Shōtōkan style). In 1953 he founded his dōjō in rue de la Montagne-Sainte-Genevieve, in Paris , where he taught the Japanese martial arts of judo , karate, aikidō and kendō . He was Jacques Delcourt's teacher after the Second World War .
